Is watching anime/manga affect my child’s way of thinking?
The answer is no. Anime has been a constant in many people’s lives since their childhood. However, parents are now concerned that watching anime might have a negative or dangerous impact on their kids. Any type of media has its pros and cons, and so does anime. But should we go as far as to say that it is dangerous for children? Watching anime is not harmful or dangerous for children as long as it’s done in moderation.
With parental control over the content and the time spent on it, anime proves to enhance creativity. It acts as a harmless form of entertainment and even encourages the children to learn.
This is because, as long as your child knows to differentiate between reality and fantasy, there will be no harm done. If they can tell the difference, your child will know that everything that happens in an anime or a manga is purely fictional. In fact, your children can learn from watching anime and reading manga.
Everything that happens in anime/manga can be a learning point. For example, murdering someone is not right, etc. Some would say reading a manga is bad for your child’s english. This is because the english used in comics are simple and nothing new is learned. If your child has interests in reading a comic or manga, let them read it. If not, how else will their passion for reading grow?
Conclusion, everything must be done in moderation. As the saying goes, “Too much of anything is bad.” As long as you can keep track on how much your child spends his/her time on animes/manga, not forgetting their studies, educating them about everything that happens in certain scenes and also watching it with them to ensure they don’t watch the animes that they are not supposed to.
Anything can be a form education. Why limited your child to books when you can understand something better in an other way?
